The folks on the Krush Discord server (formerly Crush) are a pretty chill group, so while chatting with them I decided to start putting up a short tutorial on getting started with Krush. Since the app was removed from the Apple app store temporarily, I’ll be including web screenshots in this tutorial, but the process will be pretty similar on an app.
Krush uses a token and subscription system. You are given 45 tokens every day on the free plan. They have two plans for their premier service. Note that the prices were in effect when the screenshot was taken and may be different now.

But for the purposes of this tutorial, I’ll focus on the free option.
I have tried a couple of the “character cards” already, but this time I sorted the front page by “New” and chose a sweet fitness nut named Lisa.

Starting the chat is as simple as clicking the obvious, orange Chat button, and right away she… got right down to business.

The interface consists of the main left menu bar (not shown), the list of Messages which is really a list of your previous chats with individual bots, the central chat window, and on the left is a profile and gallery section.
The bottom of the page includes a place for you type your message, ask for a pic, and choose a different character card.

You can also change the custom instructions below the character profile, as well as have one generated automatically and go to their full profile.

Clicking the Full Profile button will take you to a the full screen version of the profile you saw when you first started the chat.
So now the question is… are the pics any good?
The photo button has some unique options you don’t see on other chatbots.

For now, let’s go casual. I’m still trying to figure out how spicy this site should be 🙂
Starting at 45 tokens, I used 1 for the first chat, and it took 4 to display the image, but not to generate it. So now down to 40 tokens.

The pic now appears in the gallery available on the right side of the screen. It’s a nice pic with only a barely noticeable realism issue with the way she’s sitting on her feet. However, the wrong number of fingers and hovering thumb – likely the result of inpainting – is clearly a problem.
More later.
